No Copy/Paste

I can't seem to paste into any in-game textboxes. Ctrl+V, Ctrl+Shift+V, Shift+Insert, and Right-Click all do nothing. I have this awesome Tic-Tac-Toe Machine all built here (yes, the one from the mesecons laboratory), but there's no way I'm typing all of this code in!

Are you using Linux or Windows?

Rarkenin, VanessaE, and I all have this issue too. I think others have mentioned having the same problem, but I can't remember names.

Come to think of it, all three of us use some version of Ubuntu.

I've tried different clipboard managers that are available in the Ubuntu repositories. The only one I could find that would work with Minetest is "Xclipboard".

Xclipboard copies text only.

There is a glitch and I don't know which program it comes from, Minetest or Xclipboard. When pasting into Minetest the very first time, it takes two attempts before the text will appear in Minetests command field. After that, more times than not, the next time you try to paste something into Minetest, the previously pasted text will appear instead. Hit the escape key to clear it then try a second time and the correct text will be pasted in.

Also you can only copy/paste text into Minetest, but you can't copy/paste text from of Minetest.

Be sure to close/quit Xclipboard as soon as you are done. While it is still running you will not be able to copy/paste files.

Hope this helps. ;)

I also had problems in that copying text in minetest and pasting into gedit crashes both applications.

There is a reported bug on this:
Copy-paste does not work on Linux, from another program to Minetest
(It seems to be a problem with Irrlicht)

Interesting. Right now, I can copy text FROM Minetest, but not TO it. But this will reverse it ...

I never have a problem with it crashing Minetest, which is odd, as Minetest is so easy to crash. But when I copy text from one application and try to paste it into Minetest, it crashes the application I copied from.

Ah. So nothing can be done then. We are at the mercy of Irrlicht.

Apparently the clipboard app KLipper that comes with KDE apparently works by copy and pasting twice.

Don't know if this is related, but I can't use the numeric keypad (e.g. to enter an IP address in the menu). Some keys will work, or work sometimes, or something. But on the whole it is unusable and I have to go back to the main keyboard number row. Kubuntu 12.10 here. I don't think I've tried copy/paste.

This is what I get with Klipper (the KDE clipboard).
