So, when I play minetest, all the block textures in the inventory are BROKEN and sometimes I use wood and not cobble or dirt and not sand! :( PilzAdam, FIX THIS OR YOUR WAFFLES WILL BUUUUURRRNNNNNNN

This is probably too low GPU memory. We cant do anything about it.

This is not a low-GPU-memory issue. I've seen this happen for folks with as much as 1GB of GPU RAM. And don't say nothing can be done about it, as there is a solution that the devs either haven't found or don't want to exercise.

If the block can display properly in the world, it can display properly in the inventory.

It happens to me too, in the invintory, it shows all the wrong images, but when I am holding something or when I place a block or something, it is normal.

I've had an issue of this type a time or two. Only some blocks are affected. My GPU is extremely powerful with ridiculous memory. Restarting the program fixes it. Haven't seen a pattern of occurrence, but I haven't been looking.

For me, it happens all the time on some computers, and other computers never have this problem.

You can try disabling preload item visuals, but thats not really a fix for it.

If you disable it the inventory images arent generated at startup but only when they are needed.

Do you think it will fix it? it seems like it would make the game slower, because it needs to be generating the images all the time. I wish it would just show the actual textures instead of a 3d block.

It only generates the textures once and caches them. So it doesnt generate it all the time.

The issue, either on windows or intel cards, is that an extra texture is added at the beginning of each item-list, pushing all the other textures left/down one.

EG:
Texture: Blank/confused texture; Wood_Texture; Stone_Texture; Wool_Texture; Mese_Texture
Item: Wood; Stone; Wool; Mese

I have tested Minetest on a wide range of systems, and there is no correlation between preload item visuals, GPU memory, and this issue. Going from SLI'd nVidia 660tis(2048MB of VRAM each) to a single one(for compatibility checking), to some crappy laptop APU, the results show there really is no reason in trying to use low GPU memory, or preload item visuals, as an excuse.

If the block renders correctly in-game, the texture DID load correctly.

Now working on my own clone, Mosstest.
I guess I'm back for some time.

It just reoccurred for me, so I thought I'd grab a screen just to verify that this is the kind of issue we are talking about.

As you can see, I've selected the pink stripe box, which is actually cobblestone and shows up fine outside of the inventory. This is the issue under discussion, right?

This bug never occured when using Xubuntu 12.04, any help?

I think this issue is repeated many times in here, i have this issue everytime I playing technic(because of its dependencies that add a lot of stuff in game). I also have disable preload item visual, still no luck.

But, by observing it, I came into conclusion that minetest cannot load all mods textures because the cache is too large(?). And still no fix for this issue.
