Common Mods placed but not detected

This is getting frustrating. I do not understand how everyone else and their dog seems to just install this thing and run it whereas every single thing I do seems to run up against a wall.

Since I could never get the install from script to give me a version of Minetest that would connect to server for single player, I installed from scratch using the instructions on Github. I installed the basic minecraft-game and minecraft-common which contain the common mods necessary, but the game did not detect them, complaining that it needed the common mods.

I added the common mods to the mod folder as well (mods/minetest). Still does not find them.

Am I missing a straight forward set of instructions somewhere that I can follow and just get this game up and running?

Your phone or window isn't wide enough to display the code box. If it's a phone, try rotating it to landscape mode.
Code: Select all
14:48:46: ERROR[main]: ModError: Required common mods "default", "bucket", "creative", "doors", "dye", "fire", "stairs", "vessels", "wool" could not be found.

You need to place games into the games/ folder, not mods/minetest.
common, minetest_game, survival and build are games that belong there.

I forgot to rename minetest-common to just common apparently. Now I am back to being stuck unable to log into the single player server.

I already have a thread for that... Thanks for reaching out. Hopefully you can take a look at that one as well.
