I made a mod that has chests that you can store a lot of stuff in them, and when you put something in one of the upper slots of the chest it works, but if you try to put something in one of the bottom slots the game freezes and it says:
ERROR[main]: Some exception: "Access violation"

I think It is because there is a maximum size for a chest (mine has 128 slots). If that's true, I would like to know what the maximum is.

Access Violation means that Minetest tried to write to memory which is not owned by Minetest's process.
You should try different sizes to find out the maximum size for chests
