FOSS gamedev and creative worlds

I am trying to show some text on the HUD but for some reason it isn't showing anything. I know I have coded it correctly. I have also tested a few other mods that add things to the HUD and for some reason they don't show up either. I have tried downloading and running a clean version of Minetest and it still didn't work. This isn't something that never worked though. I have had HUD mods working before on my machine. Is there some setting that has been changed or needs to be added for it to work?

I figured out why it wasn't working correctly. I guess you can't add the hud right when a player joins because they aren't actually spawned yet so adding a small half second delay fixes the problem. Found the solution from Blockmen's HUD mod.
