What kind of glitches? Lag? Corrupt graphics? Missing graphics? Unresponsive gameplay?

Do singleplayer games have "glitches"? If so, the problem could be your computer and most likely your graphics card. You should make sure you have the latest graphics card drivers.

What version of Minetest are you running?

More information required.

you should use latest dev-version of minetest to prevent glitches...

Can't solve server lag like that. Sorry. I had to do some minetest.conf ninja to get mine lag free, singleplayer and LAN. I had to disable anti_cheat (#1 cause of lag), as well as generate blocks long before they even get transferred.

I experienced that kind of lag with some versions of minetest (around 0.4.4~0.4.6), only on a specific computer (not a low-end one) but even in singleplayer mode.
Since upgrading to 0.4.7, I didn't notify any more lag.

Anti-cheat was enabled by default in the old ones, plus the default settings were unoptimized, plus it didn't have luaJIT!

Client: So, the player just dug 10 blocks in front of him.
Server: Ok, hang on one sec I'm just gonna update... oh look a cloud!
Client: What does my immediate area look like now?
Server: Errrr what was I... Here we go, there's 10 blocks in front of the player
Client: WTF! I keel u!

True story.

More like:

Client: The player just dug 10 blocks in front of him.
[2 secs later]
Client: I wonder why the server doesn't respond, i'll just reset the blocks for now
[an eterny later]
Server: Oh right, ummm, yeah the player dug 10 blocks
