Locale issues

by Svetlana » Sun Aug 25, 2013 19:43

Hello. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate, the system language is in English and the system locale is set to English (United States)

Minetest is still detecting my locale as pt_BR because I live in Brazil. The pt_BR translation is horribly broken (both in translation and in the fact that the longer strings make labels break off and become unreadable for some buttons and textboxes).

Please give us the option to change locale manually instead of imposing one automatically like an oppressive government.

Thank you.

Gettext takes the system language in windows. Seems like you missed a setting when changing it to English.

There was no setting, English is the only language I could install it in. The entire system is in English. The only display language installed is English. I already set locale to English (United States) and rebooted.

Can we not just pick the language for this game? Is that a crime? Heresy?

Try deleting the pt_BR folder in the locale dir, then Minetest won't be able to find pt_BR and will use the default (English)

An option to choose the language in the minetest menu would indeed be a nice feature.
