Hi everyone,

So i would really like to try minetest. No problem, i thought. Downloaded the Windows zip file, extract it. Then i try to run the minetest.exe file and get immediatly "minetest.exe has stopped working"

So, tried searching on the forums a little bit, but really could not find anything. I have the MVC++ 2010 redist. installed. Tried running in administrator mode too.
Running on Windows 8 Enterprise 64bit.
I have tried this on 2 different machines. Same OS on both, and same problem.
What am i missing?

Thank you.

I reccomend using a Linux operating system such as Linux Lite: http://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=linux%20lite&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&ved=0CCoQFjAA&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.linuxliteos.com%2F&ei=OIouUtirD4ShkgXuvIGIBA&usg=AFQjCNGxOKThvScbLaifhZ2_lyja2xttRA&bvm=bv.51773540,d.dGI You can dual boot linux with windows, so you dont have to overwrite windows 8. If you burn a Linux Lite ISO to a CD, and put it in when your computer is booting up, Linux will run in "Live" mode where you can explore the OS and see if it is right for you without overwriting windows 8, then you can install it. Linux also comes with Wine Windows Program Loader: http://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=winehq&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&ved=0CCsQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.winehq.org%2F&ei=5oouUoiRMsWlkQWevIDwCQ&usg=AFQjCNG_GieVLJmWMq2dtLWRMyBttJA2Xw&bvm=bv.51773540,d.dGI Which can be used to run most (but not all) windows programs, some apps even run better in wine then they do under windows. Apart from Ubuntu based distros, there is also Red Hat based distros such as CentOS: http://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=centos&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&ved=0CCoQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.centos.org%2F&ei=RYsuUuzYMM3hkAXUtoHwCA&usg=AFQjCNGZFCAPfILZrXE1htT5B1NQ-Wr4-A&bvm=bv.51773540,d.dGI and there is also Debian which ubuntu is based on: http://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=debian&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&ved=0CCsQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.debian.org%2F&ei=c4suUvPBLcOHkwWn-YC4Ag&usg=AFQjCNEK7OGJ4koxFoqkB5cAatZoXSkZxA&bvm=bv.51773540,d.dGI There is also Arch Linux: http://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=arch%20linux&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&sqi=2&ved=0CCsQFjAA&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.archlinux.org%2F&ei=josuUo2tIpDOlAWA94CQBg&usg=AFQjCNF2u2_SZhoe4Z9gfL7uNRW6uyMlAw&bvm=bv.51773540,d.dGI (Arch Linux is a bit complicated to use, you have to have some experience in Linux if you want to use it, as you have to configure evrything yourself, so for starters, i reccomend a ubuntu based distro) And there are many, many more Linux distros do explore and discover :) This page is useful for looking at almost every linux distro: http://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=chrishaney%20linux&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&ved=0CCsQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.thecodingstudio.com%2F%3Flinux&ei=NowuUpKaL4PDlAXM6oHoBA&v6u=http%3A%2F%2Fs-v6exp1-ds.metric.gstatic.com%2Fgen_204%3Fip%3D116.240.139.108%26ts%3D1378782263026032%26auth%3Dbait4hvp22zugldcolfokhrjrey5vqbu%26rndm%3D0.13646055090231413&v6s=2&v6t=1082&usg=AFQjCNHNOp8Z9TolGtvtaYD401pfxwjtHg&bvm=bv.51773540,d.dGI
