Elevator.
On redcrab's server VannessaE made a skyward city with an "elevator" but how does it work?

If it was on Redcrabs server, then it most likely was a so-called "sneak elevator". Those work by pressing sneak + space simultaneously. The "elevator" consists of 2 pillars built this way: hole - block - hole - block - etc.
There is also my travelnet mod which comes with elevators in recent versions. The one on Redcrabs server is too old.

I did not build Skyward City, someone else did. I just cleaned most of the damage up after the mapgen went nutz last year.

Just like it's spelled, really. Two long E's, long O, short i, "E · zE · kO · witz".
