FOSS gamedev and creative worlds

Can anyone help me set up the 3d or class Characters, I download it to my mod folder and extracted and name the right name but I don't exactly know how to put the character in 3d and I tried the command for class but no luck either, I know it's not the mod it's me. Please any help in greatly appreciated. I am using 0.49minetest, love this game, making a big castle in singleplayer.

Can you please elaborate on which mod you are using, how exactly you installed the mod and what exactly is the error?

I am using 0.49 Minetest, love this game, making a big castle in singleplayer.
I downloaded several Mods and only got a few to work, beds, Computer, plasmascreen, and a few more, but I want to play a character so I downloaded 3d players characters, unzip it in the Mod folder, and rename 3dcharacters and nothing happen, I deleted the 3d character mod and tried the class mod , downloaded that one and put into the mod folder, renamed it ,classes, it show green when I configure it in my game, but when I gave it the command to give me the characters it wouldn't work. I just deleted my two worlds because Mobs wasn't working and causing errors, downloaded that and put it in the mod folder rename it mobs, it worked a couple days and stopped, Got rid of that, and mobf folder not working only loaded some of the animals then I get a crash, and so I think I am done downloading mods until I figure out what I am doing wrong lol, I know it not the mod it's me, not use to playing block games.

The 3d character I downloaded was Blockhead, I got it when he showed it on utube, downloaded but I think I put it in the wrong place or did something wrong. can't seem to find the link to that one

So you're basically trying to change your player 'skin'?

There is no such thing as 'character' in Minetest. What we do have, is skins, which change the physical appearance of your character. Unless you are using Blockmen's 3D-player build, you can't really view your character. So putting on skins is pretty useless.

If you are trying to add mods to your mods that add mobile entities, or mobs, you are doing almost everything right. However, I don't use many mob mods myself so I don't know which one you are talking about. Could you please link me to those mods?

Or maybe you could check for the mods' dependencies. Man mods have their dependencies - which are mods that must be installed before that mod is installed in order to make it work. For example, many mods may have technic as depends. That means that you need to install technic before you install that mod. See if you can see if the mod you're installing has a depends. If the depends is default then check if you're playing in minetest_game.

Another thing you could do is copy-paste the last few (10-20) lines from the black console screen that appears along with the game screen. It's called the debug.txt, so if you have a bug always make it a point to paste that in here.

Don't be disappointed! You are doing much better than may new players I've come across. You have certainly done your homework, since you know how you are supposed to install mods.
