Strange lighting

by neko259 » Fri Jan 20, 2012 08:53

I've noticed torch lighting working very strange. Sometimes after time of day change my torches that are located in the sunlight start to light only 1 block radius around them at night. Removing and placing them again fixes the problem.

This has been a problem in Minetest for a while, I think it has something todo with the light update code not updating everything but not too sure.

Instead of removing and replacing the torch you can also just punch a block near it (I do this a lot when the light glitches out and you get strange lines on blocks where the light just suddenly stops)

Pushing a block works against small light glitches. But I've tried it with torches emitting almost no light and it didn't. Only removing and placing the torch again helps.

ahh right sorry I didn't read your original post properly, I've not had the light glitch that bad I don't think but commonly get the small light glitches.
