FOSS gamedev and creative worlds

I'm a newbie at minetest (and have never played minecraft) so this is almost certainly something I'm doing stupid (or not doing smart)
I can craft most other things I've attempted, but when I attempt to craft a door by putting 6 wooden planks in the left 6 columns of the crafting square, by the wiki: http://wiki.minetest.com/wiki/Wooden_Door I don't get a door option. I can craft a chest just fine, but not a door.


I'm using minetest 0.4.7 on linux. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

never mind, I upgraded to version 0.4.9 and the problem went away.

It seems like you were using the minimal game, which is a very small test game for developers. Get minetest_game or other games to see the real power of the Minetest engine.

That must have been what I did somehow. I generated a new map when I installed 4.9 and was careful NOT to select the minial game, and it is working fine!
