phpBB3 and these forums

gee phpBB three is here for you and me

This post and/or thread will discuss phpBB3-related issues.

Presently, these forums use standard phpBB3 3.0.12. Note: As of this writing, the current final stable release in the 3.0.x series seems to be 3.0.14.

I've looked into migrating to phpBB3-current but that isn't going to work. There's no workable migration mechanism.

I tried switching to WordPress via bbPress on 2017-12-02. Surprisingly, the migration actually worked. However, phpBB3 seemed better for the current site's purposes.

So, we'll stay with phpBB3 3.0.x for the time being.

Regrettably, the current framework isn't responsive except for the fact that some images are resized automatically. We might look at working Bootstrap into the theme.

But the framework is actually nice in some respects. Not as far as permissions go; that part is ridiculously complicated.
