My fork, and what I'm doing

Among fellow forkers, it's starting to become a trend to write about a fork and its future.

Vital information:
Source version: 20120122

Moldtest?
Yes, moldtest - originally m'oldtest. The aim is to preserve compatibility with old clients while adding in features from the latest development releases, creating a somewhat stable hybrid.

Stabilitatem super omnes
Stability over all

Stability is the focus of this fork - it probably won't include cutting-edge elements or mods, but it will slowly add mods as they become polished.

What's next for moldtest
- Integrating sound system
- Integrating stable mods (zlpdoors, klchest, grow, mesetools, moreores, morechests, conifers)
- Integrate desert generation
- Add more sophisticated seasons
- Add check-and-fetch image syncing (check md5 of cache, if ==, don't download)
- Custom avatars support
- Add variable jump and fall damage (set by mods)
- House kits
- Add dynamic sun/fog

Forking moldtest?
After I have sound support in a somewhat stable state, I will fork moldtest to create a western-themed sprite-based first person shooter in the tradition of Smokin' Guns.

Aren't forks like something like Minetest++/BlockPlanet?

Minetest++ is a fork of Minetest - 201204 something or the other. Forks are simply when ya break off the main branch to modify the source...
