Suggestion: backport the new "inventory cube" code (better 3D cubes in inventory and support for more than 1 texture on the cube).

You two, no fighting, I will probably get round to making the mapgen a little better:

NO FLOATING ISLANDS.

But, I will be using Windows, Linuxarians can do their magic.

Once I work out the old build env. I WILL include it with the game; saves a whole damn box of trouble; or have me compile it for you.

Textures should and will be cross-compatible with 0.3.1.

I have continued my thoughts about adding a 0.4 compatibility layer.

Bulletrulz; I left my master src on my partition, which I currently have no access to. I will see about booting into Linux to retrieve it.

Jordach wrote:As my entry into C++ I, Jordach is going to write a awesome fork of the old version:

0.2

Features:

TODO:

Fix serious memory leaks
Add wool directly
Add loads of mobs
Add in mese tools like swords
Simple Mod API
Add a wieldhand (preferably a 3d one, similar to t_a_n_k's engine.)
Add visible tools
Add new types of tree (Rare golden and birch)
Flatland map generation (will be flats = false in minetest.conf)
Enterable seed (Type random numbers into the box below - new maps only)
Add a few more ores. (Perhaps: aluminium,
Add simple griefer protection.
Endless maps (Limit of 9999999999999990, if that can even be done...)
Shit not to implement:

Sounds (OpenAL can lag non-sound cards)
Texture Animation (Can lag expensive AGP cards)
Dynamic Day / night (Sorry - lags badly)

Good ideas, i seriously doubt that you would be able to do those in bold.
(especially the infinite maps one, as the map would be terrabyte big)

Alternate suggestion for endless maps:
Make it so it loops, and when the player come to the edge, it goes to the other side. Make a real world :)

Also, there is no point making wool into the c++ code, there will be no real benefit.
The only mods there will be benefits of adding them in will be Animals and similar usagemods, because mods such as wool just register the node at loading and dont slow the system down anymore at runtime.
(i think)

Oh well, just do what you want :)

Wool is ONE of the most used mods, concurrently, every server I know has made use of it.

BTW; United Kingdom FTW.

@Bulletrulz; PEELED SRC OFF OF THE DRIVE!

New commit get!

https://github.com/Jordach/Minetest-Classic/commit/0c3f396b1b37c2d3764011cfd946bd9e2515057f

If I were to make maps insanely huge; the full map; as a cube; (with random nodes) would weigh up to several PTERABYTES.l

Awesome! only one thing though:
NO FLOATING ISLANDS.

Eh, many people actually like the randomly generated sky islands. Maybe instead you could make them better...?
Just an idea,...
And, if you can somehow make mobs drop stuff on death, like a dungeon master drops a lava bucket, oerrkis (or however that's spelled) drop something else, etc., it would make it actually useful to kill hostile mobs.

Resources are abundant; only money is scarce. People should not have to work hard and remain poor just to pay for the needs of survival.
Society can thrive without money - but only if productive members of society are rewarded for being productive.
