[Request] Mod usage

I think that Minetest forums needs a thread in the top of general discussion or modding general that shows how to use mods. There have been numerous threads on "how to use/enable mods?"
A good explanation would use screenshots along with a worded explanation.

Just think that would help a bunch of new users, and stop so many new topics on "how to enable mods"

Anyhow, I am not a moderator, but this is something I think should be done.

We have one in Mod Releases already, I've added it to Modding General too.

How about not just another sticky thread hidden between the others but a new forum topic under Modding/Texture Packs?

It could be called:
How to install Games, Modpacks, Mods and Texture Packs

- There could be a place for the Mod DataBase too
- Maybe sounds also deserves some attention

I think visualizing is a good idea.

The problem : it isn't very user friendly... (screenshots with step by step for every methods (ingame and command line), more methods, ...)

When i've installed a mod for the first time in my debian server, i was lost because, i didn't know i had to edit the file "world.mt"... and add a line with the exact mod's name, when i add the line, i often made mistakes...

So i've found a solution : just add the mod, shutdown the server, start the server, and shutdown for the second time the server, with this method the line in world.mt for the mod is added automically, we just need to change "false" to "true", and start the server for the last time.

This method is said anywhere... For my server which restarts in a half second, it's very useful !

I agree. The wiki page is not very n00b friendly, and I don't think just putting it at the top of modding general will help much.

But we get more views on the forum than on the wiki. I prefer to look here before on the wiki.

no reason not to improve a wiki page if you think it is not doing it's job

Forum thread really stink for this sort of thing. This is what the wiki is for. See the Mods and Tutorials articles. Maybe more up-front and obvious links to it, and/or to particular sections/categories/articles would be good though.
