My ideas for modding

by Death Dealer » Wed Feb 15, 2012 20:56

dungeons/ mine that have puzzles/chests stuff etc. i would like to have these spawn like building do in the village mod. i realized this after every time i got deep enough in a casm i wouldnt really call it a mine or dungeon. all you find is super dark caves and dungeon masters i think there called?
also if minerals could be spawned in veins and at different depths like
more rare= deeper in the earth
this would also make it very easy to label a mine from the outside as a copper/iron/coal mines.
and obviously we all wont better mobs!!

just some ideas to think about take em or leave em:D

Just thought of something thought I'd post I would like to see in minetest. It would be cool to see massive open under ground area full of lava and small walkways throughout. Deeper I've seen lava but can't really do much with it. It really just seems like all underground areas are made by dungeon masters so like 90% of the underground areas are only as tall as one.I'd like to see caves stretch future instead of dropping Down so far. Anyway just some more brainstorming.

There are massive caves. You just got to find them. I've found plenty when I went out on mining trips. Some that seem to never end.

Well that would be the point of modding the game, to them more frequent.

Some thing else to consider
It would be like the "changing environment mod" or something . Have the map change terrain type after traveling so far in a direction. Expamle

Desert. | Tropics. |

or something of the sort; )

Thats not the point, the point is they are frequent. What you're wanting to do, is basically make the entire underground one giant cave. (this is based on comparison from what I've played, to what you're wanting, which is more of them)

No now you're just assuming things. I never said that. I said there should be more open area not the whole things. These are just ideas anyway dude. I said in the first post take it or leave it so you can leave it:D

I never said the whole thing. I made a note saying that in comparison to my experience in-game. Then adding what you're wanting. It would leave very little closed off caves, so it would pretty much end up being just one giant cave.

Here is the note you clearly did not read.

"(this is based on comparison from what I've played, to what you're wanting, which is more of them)"

Anyway. I do like your idea on the "changing environment".

Thought of something cool. Linkable chests.
If two chests are touching it should link the inventories together.
More stuff to think about: )

Trap chests should damage anyone (other than the one to place it) that opens it. And they continue to lose, half a heart per tick as long as the chest stays open. Sound good?

How about they die totally if they try to look in the chest?

I was also wondering if it would be possible to have different textures for the same block. I won't to make four textures for dirt. And different coal blocks to just because. Anyone know if this is possible?

ok took awhile too think of anything else but this is good. how about some kind of "pre-loading" to load large sections of the map instead of sitting at a blank wall waiting for the server to load said "chunks". i would happily wait 5-10min for a large world to build itself.

Ok a couple more things I been thinking about,
Growing trees should be one block under the surface. Like a real tree going underground.
And when cut down (but not removed) a sapling should spawn on it.
Cutting down a tree the other day and thought of that:D
Also I think lava should have different physics compared to water. It should be more viscous and not flow as far, not only would this be realistic it would help game performance:D
Still brainstorming^.^

Great Idea, but is should be possible to get a temporary immunity to drowning (not having to breath), by eating a special item.

I don't think so (unless you want to make 4 dirt blocks). I do not think this will be worth the time.

Great idea, however do remember that this will constantly decrease the total amount of dirt in the map. A solution to this problem is making dirt craftable from 9 leaves.
