Update time: A download is avaible now, only the 3D model for now (in Blender format) and 4 variations of color, the plan is adding animations and maybe better textures, so is an unfinished work, i hope you people like it:

This rat is one of the cutest things I have even seen for Minetest. Too bad entities and players aren't affected by shaders.

The mod is amazing! The best part is all the joints it has. It's much more realistic than most mobs. (as you said it is very cute.) could you make other creatures like this? (rabbits,horses,sheep,and other animals.)

They're really great. And sometimes it's needed to bump "old" topics :-) These rats would be nide for mobs_redo. They could be bread by feeding them wheat seeds. Only problem is that you won't want to feed the rats themshelves to the cats. Maybe the old rats could become mice, and these new ones added as larger/more intelligent rats not intended for feeding.

There is no animation in the blend file so, there ya go. If someone can put in some animation that would be cool.
