I'm new to the forum, and I'd like to post my first mod.
Its a modpack with nodes that can be used to build sci-fi themed creations.
Before I post it though I was wondering, is it ok to use edited textures from another game?
I copied textures from sauerbraten(cube2) and edited them so that they are 16x16. The game is open source but it does say in the license that users cannot re-use in game media. I edited the textures, so does this make them mine to use even though they were originally from another source?. (screenshot attatched)

I think this means: distribution and modification is disallowed.
If you want to share them, ask the creator of those textures.

I cant seem to find any contact details for any of the authors.
Would it be ok if i was to re-draw the textures so that they were very similar?

Actually, no.

You just can’t re-draw any art and claim copyright for that independent of original license and copyright. This applies to anything from the Mona Lisa down to 16×16 game textures.

Check this page. It says that “ the source code may be Open Source, but the game and the media it consist of have their individual licenses and copyrights” and it gives a list of authors in the section “Credits / Authors”. Just check the list and contact the author of the textures in question.

Maybe ask one of the other authors for contact details if you can’t fint the contact information of the texture artist. Maybe try asking in the Sauerbraten IRC channel.
