An Opinionated Guide to Advanced Mesecons (OGAM)

Unless you've been living under a rock, you certainly know that Mesecons is the best mod since the sliced bread mod (and significantly more useful to boot).

But have you ever wondered if it's possible to do... more? Things like adders or seven segment displays, and even more, are all possible with a bit of patience and determination, and of course, a lot of MESE.

I therefore present the first edition of the Opinionated Guide to Advanced Mesecons, or OGAM for short. This 20-page article will guide you through the construction of a half adder, a type of logic circuit used in adders and several other places, and give a few of the tips and tricks of effective mesecon circuit design along the way.

Without further ado, here it is: Download (PDF)

This is freaking great! Since I suck so badly at circuit design. Haha

Wow cool!
I mean it's cool if you guys like my (and others like sfan55 and Temperest) mod! :D
I never made any big adders or logic circuits myself ;)
Maybe I'm just too lazy...
I think I could try to make Temperest's inverter possible by checking if a node is connected to another.
Anyway, thanks a lot for the great tutorial!!!

The server crashes when you do something like this:
Your phone or window isn't wide enough to display the code box. If it's a phone, try rotating it to landscape mode.
Code: Select all
IP
__
PS
O

Where:
I = Inverter
P = Plug
S = Socket
O = Switch
_ Nothing

(Yes, it's a stupid loop)

Yes, that is a limitation of the plugs/sockets system. It's a tradeoff between speed and stability. That's why inverters are disabled by default in the mod when you download it.

:D
I finally made a full adder :)
I saved it in a plain text file with worldedit, I can upload it if someone wants.

@cosarara97: excellent! Did you find the tutorial easy to follow? Did you have any difficulties with the inscructions?

Well, it took me a while to understand stacking, and I had many bugs while using plugs and sockets, but I think it's quite well explained :)

EDIT: I have a 4 bit adder now :D

can you share with a worldedit export?
