This mod makes nyan cats move forward and leave trails of rainbows. If they run into something that isn't air, they will turn and move a different direction. The rainbows they make cannot be picked up, so you can't use nyan cats to farm tons of rainbows.

I only ask cuz I have never seen them in game and not sure of their default behavior
I would be nice to be able to choose such a thing tho.

With the right textures this mod will make them kinda cool :)

does this work if I place a nyan cat I found?
If they dropped some goodies that might be an interesting trail to follow once released above ground. If they also turn when coming to an unloaded chunk, that would sort of keep them within sight and in the end all air will be replaced by rainbows - gasp - suffocated by beauty

Yes, it works on any default nyan cats. They do turn when hitting an unloaded chunk, since it is actually "ignore" not "air" so the nyan cat thinks it hit something


Anyway, I'm thinking about making the rainbows not a full block, and having corner rainbows for when the nyan cat turns.

Kind of reminds me of the game "snake". If the cat where to turn in a deterministic way when hitting something, it might be possible to steer it.

It does; whenever it hits something, it will add 1 to the facedir, and if it was 23, it will change to 0.

I love making little mods like this, that don't require too much effort and don't have too many features.

Can you upload the mod to this forum?

I'm so going to put this on the server for the kids at school and not tell them about it, they are going to go psycho when they see the cats flying around!
