[Mod Request] More uses for gravel.

by bgsmithjr » Fri Apr 06, 2012 15:06

There are no uses for gravel. It is ugly. Make a pretty building block with it. Or cement. Or asphalt, or fossils , or since stone drops cobble, cobble should drop gravel, and then gravel and clay make cobble, then cobble makes stone. Or weapons, gravel drops rocks, rocks can be thrown at enemies. Since clay and gravel are both diggable by hand and wooden tools are unrealistic make it so you can craft gravel and clay into makeshift axe, use that to get stick, make a makeshift pick, to get real stone to make real tools. do all that with dangerous torchs, add the drowning mod, make some quicksand, caves with the spikes mod, so you must use torches. And the suffocation idea if you are deep in a cave too long. And hunger, and bears not vombies, bears will attack you. and wolfs, oh my.
EDIT
Don't make this a mod, make it a game.

Whats about a slingshot (throwing mod), which uses gravel as ammo?

In fact, gravel looks really good as a foundation for cobblestone towers, when they are otherwise surrounded by grass. Try it. 8)

I did the flint mod. Gravel would drop flint. Altering the fire mod can make a nice flint and steel. It can also make arrowheads for arrows.

I think that there is a cement mod already, but sand + water + gravel would make a new textured (and presumably stronger) block type.

Perhaps there could be a way to bleach the gravel so it could be white for use for building nicer rounds and foundation.

Another thing I had in mind is maybe craft a filter with it. When later in the future where we can separate fresh water and salt water, if a player needed fresh water for whatever reason but is stranded by ocean rather than lakes, just filter it.
