Instead of making all this code for minecarts, why not make a slide? Just a simple node that's slippery, like ice.

And line the floors of a mine with ice blocks...? Why not just ride a mining cart? becuase you can't slip UP a slope :/

If you have momentum. The texture could be something like stone so it doesn't look stupid.

minecarts are okay as long as more things are added for them. a way to pull them up a slope, allow the player to stop a moving minecart when he is inside it(hand brakes), a way to decide if you want to keep on going straight or turn(when the t junction comes), automate minecarts so they dont stop at the end of chunks or something, when riding one not show the players leg moving and hands swinging as if he was walking, if there is a motorized minecart make it go which ever way you want(not the way from where you place coal).
