Once a mod is installed, how you use it depends entirely on the mod in question.

Many mods supply a bunch of new objects that must be made by finding the appropriate materials and crafting them together, or which are acquired using the usual /give commands. My Home Decor mod is like this.

Some mods add new functions to the game, without adding any new objects (or at least, a bare minimum). In so doing, such mods add various commands to run those functions, as is the case with sethome and worldedit.

Some mods change existing functions in the game to work better, or differently, and thus require no commands to use. My animated torches mod does this.

Some mods combine one or more of the above to create more complex features.
You might like some of my stuff:
Plantlife ~ More Trees ~ Home Decor ~ Pipeworks ~ HDX Textures (16-512px)
