FOSS gamedev and creative worlds

Hey all, I am working on a new mod and I need some way to make a moving object collide with an entity, or make an entity collide with a node. I can not say what the mod is or anything about it except that I need to make stuff collide (I don't want anyone stealing my idea or convicting me of stealing their idea/copying their mod)

the idea is, you know how movestone moves along mesecon wires? well i told him it would be cool if ANYONE could make a mod using the movestone code as the base.

And change the movestone for CARTS and mesecon wires for RAILS....you see where this is going? basically the carts would move along the rails just like movestone moves along mesecon wires. the only problem was to find a way to make the CARTS move ON the rails, not along them.....so basically thats his question..how can you make the CARTS move on the RAILS?

No no no I was going to make a MESECON-POWERED ELEVATOR. Don't randomly make it look like you're the creator of everyone's ideas, ok? and you never gave any of us any ideas for that - all you did was grief stuff, and we have logs to prove you never gave us ideas, and they can be easily accessed. And P.S. I got the cart to move ON the RAILS, but it requires a different type of block for every direction the cart goes (the direction it goes is determined by the block under it) and also it was MY idea to make the default ''rails'' have to be crafted ONTO a block of cobble to make a ''rail block'' that makes it look better. Crafting would simply be a rail node over a block, like wood for wood-bedded rails, cobble for cobble-bedded rails, dirt for dirt-bedded rails, etc...

then why havent you released it? cause your lying :) and dont say "its incomplete" cause may i recall your stargate mod? it doesnt even work, and you released it.....so LOL

Making an a mesecon elevator move is not a problem.
The real problems are
1) Making it look like an elevator. Ceck out my Github, it contains support for 3d meshes.
2) Making it behave like an elevator, what you mentioned, make it collide with other entities.
The best (and maybe only) way to do this is coding the collision thing in C++
Maybe you can use the code for physical=true, collision with nodes is just physical=true

BACK ON THE SUBJECT, if there is a way to make entities collide, this will help me with an idea I have for a mod (landmine, stop claiming ownership of everyone's mods just because you thought of it a day before the mod was released - and note that my idea has nothing to do with minecarts)
Also, landmine, if you really think that you are the first person to get the idea for minecarts, you should look around the forum more often. there have been about 3 attempts to make Minecarts, and all of them failed. If you think that it's your idea and you came up with it first, go make the mod. We really need minecarts, and you can't claim ownership of a mod unless you make it, so go make it. I really want to see you try.
