Random textures-coming soon! {MOD}

by Death Dealer » Sat Jun 30, 2012 03:27

hello all^_^ its me once again.
here to inspire the modders of minetest. ive been gone for awhile and for good reason. the scene was getting over run with, for lack of a better term idiotic little kids with nothing better to do than act like they know something. i really hope it doesnt continue because i will just take a nice long break again. ive updated some of my texture packs and my sound pack so PLEASE everyone lets work together and make minetest great^_^
a mod that i would like to work on very soon is something i like to call random textures. now ive been modding minecraft as an ananomous user. and have found a way to do this in minecraft. its basically making multiple texture for the same block to give the world a less repetitious feel. in the next couple weeks i hope to port this to mietest:D wish me the best of luck i will give a progress report soon!
Keep calm and code python^_^

I'm looking forward to that. The best of luck developing it for minetest!

Creating really random textures using Perlin Noise would be better ;)

yes better, and a lot more time consuming to make.a guy on the minecraft forums had this idea. but after looking into animated texture packs i found i could make any number of textures for a single block. its as simple as getting animated texture working for minetest^_^ witch i hope i can figure out. i have an od job so i sleep weird hours but i work on this in my free time. to tell you guys the truth i havnt released this for minecraft, and i dont know if i will. maybe this is what can seperate minetest from minecraft.
Keep calm and code python^_^

Yes it would be time intensive and quite senseless, but it would shrink the gamesize and be somewhat cool.
A great visual feature for Minetest would be bumpmap-support, too. But c55 (or anyone else) should readd a good texture filtering for HD textures first.
