I don't do any of the 3d models but some people use programs like blender to make 3d models.

To nodeboxes? Well, just make 'em by hand!

I don't know how you would do that, but seriously, tonyka made an excellent guide here (you can use Google Translate): http://minetest.net/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=27450#p27450

if you know using 3D programs, it is much easier to get the coordinates of the boxes, only have to adjust the 3D figure in a 1X1 block whose center is the coordinate 0,0,0, and copy the coordinates of the points of interest, taking into account that in the 3D design programs height is 3 ° value, and the 2º in minetest

example:
Autocad & 3D MAX... = x, y, z; minetest changes "z" by "y" = x, z, y

Note: you can find the first version of 3D Max, on pages of abandonware, it's easy to learn and does not occupy much disk space

ask me whatever you please on 3D design, I'll be happy to answer ...

instead of doing that, you should suggest that use open source software like Blender, which is free.
this avoids problems such as viruses, licenses, legal stuff, etc ...

plus, the first version of 3D Max requires D.O.S. and may need to use a DOS emulator to run it (like DOSBox)

Here: Blender

I assume that Linux users (including me) use blender ...
actually the latest version of msdos was 3D Studio,
- John Walker Recommends in April 1991 to "move the product as soon as Windows to Technically feasible".
in 1995 it was decided the name of 3D Max (Max is the name of the son of Anna Mellilo, marketing manager at Autodesk) and in 1996 it launched on the market

if anyone is interested its istory recommend this web, (very interesting for fans of 3D drawing)

y love DOSBOX an "The Lost Vikings" videogame
