I miss being able to turn wood into coal since it doesn't exist in the latest version. If I knew anything about coding I'd make a mod myself. I love lots of the improvements in 0.4 and I want to explore a huge gaping cavern without leveling a mountain to find more coal for torches. I'll gladly farm trees for a while for the guaranteed coal payout rather than randomly carve away at one mountain in order to explore another--or outright cheat with giveme.

It's very easy to add tree > coal smelting back; celeron55 removed it because it made the game too easy.

Yeah, I thought that was why it was removed. Suppose I can just cheat with giveme so I shouldn't complain.
