a node that when hit will spawn 10 ladder above it unless it hits a node first, and when hit a second time will remove all the ladders allowing the box to be moved nd placed somewhere else.

Maybe you'll like my rope mod. It does the same only in reverse. Your tall ladder idea is cool but how hard is it to build a tall ladder atm? Unless ofcourse you want to build it straight into the air...
