Mod Mirroring/Archiving?

by mauvebic » Tue Nov 06, 2012 16:50

while you can't stop people from bolting, it might not be a bad idea that we start archiving mods (grouped by license/repo) and mirroring those archives in case they decide to wreck their work on the way out.

Thoughts?

Some people want to be "forgiven" on the Internet; can't do anything against this. The current way of posting mods is fine as-is, but if you have a copy of the mod, feel free to redistribute it...

Archiving/Mirroring Mods is a cool idea.
But it is also lots of work:
Every mod update must be added to the repo.
If a few people would work together this would be possible.
There is also the question where it could be stored.
Github would be possible...
My ingame name is "john", my IRC name is "john_minetest".
I am chef mod on this server: minetest.org : 30015(see here)
