Mesecons: piston vs movestone

Hey all!

I am enjoying Minetest as well as the mesecons mod!

I do have a question regarding pistons and movestones.

Through my own experiments I noticed the following:

Pistons can push up to 15 blocks (same as Minecraft I believe).

Movestones can move at least 100 blocks (probably more, I just quit testing at 100 blocks) and a sticky movestone can also pull the same 100 blocks as well.

My question would be if there is a limit to how many blocks a movestone can move and/or pull?

This is just a curiosity question - not a complaint or etc.

Thanks!

In Minecraft, pistons can push up to 12 blocks.
It is probably possible to limit it (I do not know how though).

PS: next time, you should ask in the mod's topic.

Hello Calinou,

Thanks for the info and I apologize as I thought I was in the right area.

Is this the correct area you referenced: http://minetest.net/forum/viewtopic.php?id=628

Thanks!

If noone of the contributors changed it movestones can push and/or pull an infinite amount of blocks (depends on how much chunks are loaded)

Yes, pistons are limited to 15 blocks, while movestones can keep going indefinitely so long as there are mesecon rails to support it.

@Jeija: I plan to change this to 15 as well in order to make everything consistent. What do you think?

@Temperest:
Limiting it is fine. You should then just keep a way to easily change the number of blocks being pushed (if possible in mesecons/settings.lua; like MOVESTONE_NODES_PUSHED = 15)
