FOSS gamedev and creative worlds

Hi I'm looking to make a zombie apocalype themed game with minetest, just for me and the gf to play every now and then over lan.
Any suggestions for mods that will enhance/compliment the idea I have?
I have the sapier-animals mod and the birthstones mod also.
I feel the sapier-animals provides the necessary zombies, but all the random animal spawns kind of makes it feel too 'farmer-land' if you know what I mean.
I'm not too great at programming but I have some basic knowledge from the old BYOND engine. If you could suggest how I can change the random spawns so that only zombies spawn, I probably wouldn't need any mods.

i did not read the whole post, and just thought, that what could've you said.
It would be awesome if there was a MineZ in Minetest <:)
