Request: Move completed mods to wiki

The forums are great. But they suck if you just want to find/download a specific mod. The wiki seems like a better tool to see all completed mods, source url, author, etc.

I'm specifically talking about this page:

http://wiki.minetest.com/wiki/Mod_list

Then each mod could have their own page/topic with all the details (including latest changes). From there easily link to the mod's discussion page (the stuff we have now)

Example: http://wiki.minetest.com/wiki/Mods/More_Blocks

What do you think?

Using a wiki for this is overcomplicated. It's OK for mod documentation, but not mod releases.

Yes, I was referring to documentation about released mods not mod releases.

Ex: So ModYXZ is stable and to make public you must add it to the wiki Mods directory. If your mod is not stable or private, it has no business being listed there.

Discussion about specific releases should stay in the forums or even an issue database.

The structure of the wiki is better for definitions (like crafting and blocks), instructions and descriptions. In a forum you must follow the main post and a ton of comments to get all the information you need.

The steps for adding mods to wiki wouldn't be too complicated:

1- Add mod to Mods page

2- Create specific mod page (ie., SnapperMod)

3- Assign version

4- Add all documentation (crafts, blocks, description, credits, licenses), with linked dependencies (ie., MoreoresMod)

5- Provide link to mod's release discussion in forums

To update:

1- Update documentation

2- Change version

Most mods like mesecons are never stable - they are in constant development.

If people don't make proper documentation like you mentioned, they also won't do that on the wiki out of pure lazyness. For Mesecons e.g. I prefer to have a seperate website that contains all the information at http://mesecons.net/
A wiki would be far to unflexible, a website however can be customized to your needs.

What do you think about the database Likwid H-Craft mentioned?
I'd prefer that one over a wiki.
