Where do you get wool?

You may use COTTON BLOCKS from rtmmp: http://c55.me/minetest/forum/viewtopic.php?id=1241
COTTON BLOCKS SRC: https://github.com/Hackeridze/Ru-true-minetest-modpack/tree/master/approved/cotton_blocks

I'd like to point out that this code is just proof-of-concept. If someone else wants to use this to make a full mod, I say "go for it." I'm not good at doing graphics and this mod really needs some, that, and I don't really run a server.

I used the beds from various, but it doesn't register the player as in bed, when on top of it. I use the latest minetest-dev, maybe therein is the problem.

It may take up to 10 seconds for this mod to register you as on top of a bed. This was done to cut CPU load. If that is not your problem, I will take a look at it.

There is just one file 'init.lua', that I placed in the /mods/beds folder. This mod should work 'as-is'?
I only changed the interval from 10 to 1, typed '/giveme beds:bed' placed the bed on the ground, jumped on it, waited 10 seconds, but nothing happened.

Technically this needs a texture to go alone with the code, but it should work without it.
And it works on my system. You should see the sun start rising after a few seconds.
Search your debug.txt file for '[beds]'

Here is your beds mod with textures and recipes. No dependencies but default, 64x64, and 16x textures.

I don't think this is possible.

The zlpdoors mod does it by adding two nodes: one for the top part of the door, and one for the bottom. Perhaps something similar could be done here?

Fantastic mod =) I've made textures for bed with transparent space below mattress and what I see are... transparent floors and walls :| Is there any way to fix it?

It won't help. Now I have the same much darker texture on each side of brick. Any idea?

Your phone or window isn't wide enough to display the code box. If it's a phone, try rotating it to landscape mode.
Code: Select all
minetest.register_node("beds:red", {
    description = "Bed",
    drawtype="glasslike", -- glasslike instead of chestlike
    tile_images = {"beds_red_top.png","beds_red_top.png","beds_red_side_top.png","beds_red_side_bottom.png","beds_red_side_full_left.png","beds_red_side_full.png","beds_red_side_top.png"},

I have 5 images in ~/textures for each side except bottom side of brick. How should I modify lines above? I see 7 positions here, brick has got 6 sides. Could you explain this?

Typo, just do trial and error remove one, see which one it removes then when it removes the image you want replace it.

I modified code like this:
Your phone or window isn't wide enough to display the code box. If it's a phone, try rotating it to landscape mode.
Code: Select all
minetest.register_node("my_bed:bed", {
    description = "Bed",
    drawtype = "glasslike",
    tile_images = {
        "my_bed_top.png",
        "my_bed_top.png",
        "my_bed_side_top.png",
        "my_bed_side_bottom.png",
        "my_bed_side_left.png",
        "my_bed_side_right.png",
        },
    paramtype = "light",
    is_ground_content = true,
    groups = {snappy=2,choppy=3,oddly_breakable_by_hand=1},
})

I used paramtype = "light" and bed is brighter now (after replacing), but I have always first texture from list on each side. Solution?

That's probably why there was an extra one in the beginning.When its drawtype is glasslike there are more than six sides, I guess.
try this
minetest.register_node("my_bed:bed", {
description = "Bed",
drawtype = "glasslike",
tile_images = {
"my_bed_side_top.png",
"my_bed_top.png",
"my_bed_top.png",
"my_bed_side_bottom.png",
"my_bed_side_left.png",
"my_bed_side_right.png",
},
paramtype = "light",
is_ground_content = true,
groups = {snappy=2,choppy=3,oddly_breakable_by_hand=1},
})

I applied what you wrote. With drawtype = "glasslike" it looks like this:

Should look like that, but without transparent floor beyond bed when drawtype = "chestlike" is set:

Another thing is how to make bed two bricks long...

I will work on two block bed tonight. I will also look at the draw type. The two block bed shouldn't be difficult, but the transparency, I think, is a minetest issue because the signs used to be on a post when placed on the ground and have a cube selection box, but now they just lay on the ground.
EDIT:: try drawtype = "leaflike" or "leaveslike"

Ok so why not make a bed block with an extension that's the same color blanket etc. so any size of bed can be made, also i would like to see some one add the /time function to this, punch the bed then it fades, then fades back in to a later time:D this is what i was thinking.
so this block then an extension block to make your bed any length.

I have the two block bed finished, but I can't solve the transparency issue. Maybe if your have fancy leaves enabled and change the drawtype to 'allfaces_optional'
