Modpack for base Minecraft functionality?

I'm sure this has been asked before, but my Google-fu is failing me. Sorry.

I'm an avid Minecraft player, but I'm setting up a Minetest server so that a friend of mine who doesn't have $30 to spend on Minecraft can play with me. Is there a modpack for Minetest that will give us a base of Minecraft features like the food system and mobs? Failing that could someone recommend a list of mods to get me started?

My Stampy map thread mentions quite a few mods that are supposed to make MT resemble MC in gameplay. Notice there are three lists for the map: required mods, recommended mods, plus several mods like quartz that are inside the worldmods directory in the map zip file.

Also, if you use my mod installation tool MT-GitSync, all those mods are already in the built-in mod list.

Pretty much the only thing I can never figure out is how to combine wield view and 3-D armor successfully. It's always buggy and never works right for me. :-(

I don't know about a modpack, but there's the MiniTest game.

Carbone does that just fine!

MiniTest is no longer maintained and is outdated.

siskulous: I've been planning to do such a thing, but I'm pretty busy on Carbone already. If I ever released such a game, I'd have to maintain both at the same time.

Yes, I've noticed. :-)

Are you using different forks in Carbone? My troubles were with https://github.com/stujones11/wield3d and https://github.com/BlockMen/minetest-3d_armor I think. Individually they worked fine, but there were always problems when activating both in the same world.

P.S. Aha, I think I should have used https://github.com/stujones11/minetest-3d_armor instead.

P.P.S. With stujones11/wield3d and stujones11/minetest-3d_armor I can craft e.g. a diamond helmet but not put it on. Also, the creative mode menu doesn't work anymore.

P.P.P.S. Oops, I should have dragged the armor on top of six squares to the left, not in the man. That's why I could not put on the armor.

Carbone bundles both tweaked 3d_armor (with gold armor, as good as steel armor) and wieldview (with gsub crash bug fixed). The creative inventory will work, but you'll have to open the inventory twice in order to see it.

Inventory Plus is also quite helpful for using 3D-armor and wield view in creative mode.
