Its not hard to start a Minetest server, the developers could add a batch script for those windows users easily. They just choose not to. If you used linux, it is a different story, there is a executable, and you just have to run a simple command to start it: ./minetestserver !!!
Anyway yeah, the wiki explains it pretty well, so I think this is not needed

You explained so really easy!
But in practice it is not so easy. For example. Open an access port on the modem or router.
If it was just that the game would certainly have more players but is still very complicated.
In minecraft is possible to create a server without using hamachi, Remobo or open doors.
