i had a great idea for a mod....is it tiring when placeing water and lava someplace...well my idea is there could be some portal that will spw out water or lava from one side only so it can act like a waterfall or a lava fall...and the portals should look like this...http://www.cartographersguild.com/mapping-elements/447-more-magic-circle-art.html

I actually started working on a Ponyville map a while ago, but ragequit because of Twilights hugeass tree library. Goddamn that thing was hard to make.

It would be really cool if someone could create a mega torch mod or something. Like a torch that would light up 1000 blocks on each side. That would be incredibly useful.

I'm afraid such a mega-torch would not work. Light is limited to a few blocks and can't be turned up much more than what a torch provides. You wouldn't be able to see the mega-torch anyway as long as you havn't been to it (area not loaded).

Has a mod of arrows. throw objects to kill other players. That works in version 0.4.7

Well, aside from structures, you could use my Zombie gamemode with firearms mod. The reason the firearms mod isn't included my default is because it won't hurt mobs.

Someone make a more complete redstone mod for minitest but just basic just adding things like pistons, repeaters, I know theres mesecon but it adds to much things. I dont need a water turbine, or insulated mesecons.

You don't have to use all the stuff mesecons gives you. And also, if you want to do that, just delete some code. If you want something done just do it.

I use Notepad++ and I'm satisfied with it. You could also try LuaEdit.

You've come a long way from the prepackaged world of Minecraft.

1) Install Notepad++ or Gedit (or any IDE that does Lua)

2) Create a mod folder, say, newnode, and create a init.lua inside of that folder

3) Create a node definition with newnode:node and assign a random texture, eg default_wood.png or wool_white.png

4) Test it by using it in singleplayer with the giveme command, /giveme newnode:node -1

5) You have made your first mod.

Not TNT, that takes out an arbitrary area. Im talking about something that can tell the difference between the building it's attached to and the next one :-)

can someone give me mapgen code that generates better things like caves,terrain and less water.
I dont know why but I feel I'm getting lots of ocean.
Once I got an entire world of ocean, there was only a few patches of land for about 1000 meters

This has probably been mentioned already but I'll suggest it anyway... flower seeds/bulbs, so you can plant flowers.

I'm thinking of creating additional code & a texture for stu's 'minetest-3d_armor' mod: Carbon Fiber Boots, aka Long-Fall Boots.
Recipe:
"Coal Block" "" "Coal Block"
"Coal Block" "" "Coal Block"
"Wool:Black" "" "Wool:Black"
The idea is that with the boots equipped, instead of reducing combat damage like the other boots, they instead cut the damage taken from falling in half. For the most part, I can copypaste, say, Wooden Boots, and change the recipe. Then I can mod a texture so it's black rather than brown. Then I can remove the bit that causes the Wooden Boots to absorb combat damage and lose integrity.
The problem lies in that I have absolutely NO idea how to do the whole, "cut damage in half" bit for falling. I'd figure that after a set number of jumps that would normally deal damage, say 500 damage-inducing jumps, the boots would fall apart and you'd have to make new ones.
Help? Should I make a thread for this?
