He lowered his minetest version 0.4.7, when running the game, opened the black cmd window and quickly closed. I do not understand this.

Uhhh, what do you mean by lowered his minetest version 0.4.7? I have Windows XP and I have run 0.4.7 as well as the latest releases from PilzAdam, sfan5 and BlockMen without a problem except for https://forum.minetest.net/viewtopic.php?id=6857 which is basically what happened to me. The only problem is that 0.4.7 doesn't have the new menu system that I was having the problem with.

Can you post the errors from the debug.txt file? To get this info, go into your minetest folder and then go into your bin folder. Delete the file debug.txt and then run minetest and let it crash. When it does, go back into the bin folder and open debug.txt in a text editor. Go to the end of the file and copy and paste the last 20 or so lines of the file here, especially the lines that say error on them. Someone may be able to figure out your problem from the information you post. Also please use the code tag when posting the debug.txt file information. If not sure how to do that, select the text after you paste it and press the <> button up above.
