A Modding Idea - Elemental Powers

by Rhys » Sat Aug 17, 2013 19:47

Hi there!

So, yes, this just literally popped out of my brain (Ouch!). Wouldnt it be cool if people had elemental powers in Minetest? Fire, Water, Snow... So, yeh. I might make a mod for elemental powers. I might use Jeija's Throwing init.lua to help me. Please comment about this idea. More ideas to this idea is well... coolio!

You could mix this with the moreores mod and use Mithril for enchanting and gaining such powers, or enchanting a tool to cause elemental damage...

I see where you are coming from with that, TenPlus1. Enchanting Tables like from Minecraft? :D. I like the idea for Mithril, yes. But, Mmm... What about if there were ores to create the powers? Like, Fire Ore, Water Ore etc etc.

Mithril is rare enough to make you want to mine if you know you will get some new powers from it, and adding mithril and an element like earth, bucket of water, bucket of lava or leaves for wind to the crafting recipe can craft some nifty powers or orbs of power which can be used to make weapons and such...

Depends what you want to download... If it's picture related then try deviantart.com

Ok, well, I have got an idea. Hows about a renamed version of Mithril called Mytheril? And, I will take TenPlus1's idea for like elements mixed with Mytheril to make enchanted tools. Like fire tools. The Elemental Power textures I havent done yet. I am doing the tool textures. And, I do have an idea for the name of the mod. If you want to know, make sure to take a look at the final topic. :D.

Alright. Waiting for Calinou for a answer if I can use the Mithril Tools used in More Ores. Haven't done the throwing yet. The first mod release will be out when ever I get an answer. Will only be the ore (Mytheril) and the tools (Fire Tools, Air Tools)... Could someone help me out too? When ever I create a item texture, there is always a white backround behind it when in hand... How do I get rid of it? I use Paint to make node textures and item textures. Anyhow, thanks in advance.

You can't create transparent textures with Paint.
Instead you can use Paint.NET or GIMP.

Open an image in Gimp. Right click on the layer the image is contained. Select "Add Alpha Channel". You'll probably now have to delete the white or black background produced with a nontransparent image. Just use the wand tool to select the corresponding areas and delete them.

Ok, it's going to be called enchanting. It will be on a hold, though, making other mods.

Make sure to see my other things though!

Another way is to make a new layer under layer drop-down(or press <Shift> <Ctrl> N), make sure it is set to transparency. Then delete the bottom layer. done. You can draw using pencil on the layer too. :) Good luck!
