Since there are people interested in this feature, I thought to post an update: None of the admins felt like including this yet, though I can't say it's been opposed either. The code is currently in RealBadAngel's care, but he plans to look at it after finishing other things first. It's unknown when he will, so my hopes are still not up. I rebased my branch on latest master today, and surprisingly got no GIT conflicts.

Once again, any developer is free to try the code again and finally add it to MineTest if they agree. I see no real reason to further delay this, and would love to get those colorful skies in everyday MineTest life. The code is very simple, so if anyone later decides the effect needs adjusting it can be tweaked most easily.

Proller included this in Next. If someone wants to test it, go there.
My opinion:
It just look amazing (and I'm a very skeptical person). Please, someone add this to minetest.

I didn't know about Next. Is it a branch of the features which are waiting to be merged? Might try it out to see the other changes too. And glad you like it!

Cool... didn't know this was attempted before in such old times. Yes it looks similar to that, only view angle based and with slightly different colors.

good hue shifting :3 might want to tone it down with the orange a bit and add some yellow not much though :D
