Game dont launch and give permanent and repeated errors

by balez1 » Mon Jan 06, 2014 09:14

Hi together,

0.4.9
Vista 32B SP2
AMD Sempron 3600+ Ghz

Brand new zip file on a directory
Minetest.conf after the exe file launch: main_menu_tab = singleplayer name = server_dedicated = false

Test with Ver 0.4.8 and 0.4.1-win32 same results:

Access violation at 05355040 write?=8 address=87380032
09:13:04: ERROR[main]: Some exception: "Access violation"
In trans_func.
Access violation at 05355040 write?=8 address=87380032
09:13:04: ERROR[main]: Some exception: "Access violation"

The adress change every new game start.
I try the same directory with no change on a different PC with XP, win8, Vista64b, Its OK, the game launch.

Do you an idea where can I begin to search on my PC Configuration, and how ca I solve this issue?

Thanks for reply,

This is caused by the Direct3D driver.
To fix, go to the minetest.conf file and find:

Your phone or window isn't wide enough to display the code box. If it's a phone, try rotating it to landscape mode.
Code: Select all
video_driver = direct3d9

change it so that it says:
Your phone or window isn't wide enough to display the code box. If it's a phone, try rotating it to landscape mode.
Code: Select all
video_driver = opengl

[/spoiler]

If the game does not start after changing this, update your graphics driver to get a supported OpenGL.

Restarting may help, if you have not done so already.

Thanks for all your help.
My video cards:

Version du package du pilote 8.381-070524a-048278C

Fournisseur ATI Technologies Inc.
Version du pilote 2D 7.01.01.646
Version Direct3D 7.14.10.0503
Version de OpenGL 6.14.10.6590
Version de Catalyst® Control Center 2007.0524.2140.36852

Yesterday, I saw all the topic and I tried also video_driver = opengl in the *.conf with no result.

Today, I try some test then at the end, I erase all the contents of *.conf and write the opposit: video_driver = direct3d9

and the game run.
