That's been a constant issue for me on two different computers since 0.4.5 or 0.4.6.

What you do to get back is enable free move (K) if it isn't already to stop falling, and use /teleport to get back.

This seems to be a problem on quite a few servers for me also but thankfully it clears itself after a while and I end up back where I was, unless their is lag in which case it takes forever... One way to fix it is to press 'k' if you have fly privelages which stops you falling and lets things return to normal, another is to teleport or type /home if you have sethome mod so you can reset your position...

On Windows XP I played Minetest without any problems.
But now I am a Linux User and on Linux, this game feels like
unplayable. 3 times i fall out of the world in such a short time,
that does not make fun.
I do not like cheating but now I must cheating to play a game.

Being teleported to infinity on one of the axes has happened to me only twice in the last year, no obvious cause just 'pow' you're in deep space.

I had similar problem to yours, when I had Linux.
When I sometimes walked on stone/cobble, suddenly I started to fall and I couldn't do anything. I had to modify in player's file health to zero, to spawn in normal place many times to be able play(I didn't knew about teleporting commands). Playing minetest on linux was very hard for me cuz this bug, which happened many times. Now I have Windows 7, 64 bit and I am happy that I can play this game without that bug.

I upgrade my video driver to the newest nvidia driver.
And the game speed now is very fast, from 20 fps to 60 fps! Wow
But the problem is not solved with that.
The last time, I fall out 8 times out of the world in a very short time.
The same problems as mauvebic & specopsbarton says.

X pos always -inf- and the problem seems to be only on stone.

Okay in Minecraft animals and mops are dying by sinking into the ground.
It is an old bug. But colorful stones and cheaper doors are more important than solving this problem.
And what is with minetest? Do we get colorful stones and cheaper doors, too?

I've had this problem for a long time and I still can't narrow down the circumstances when it happens lol I though it was digging for long periods but then it happened when I was just walking around. As far as I can tell, it only happens when i'm not in free move, because every time I have to activate free move to stop falling.

I have this problem frequently after updating to 4.9-dev. I find it usually happens when digging/placing a block. has there been any progress on it?
