random connection problems

Hi, I'm running a minetest-server 0.4.10 on Debian Linux and experience random connection problems.
It happens quite often, sometimes several times the day, when I want to connect to my server with the 0.4.10 client it hangs forever at "Connecting to Server".
It seems to happen for everyone, because I don't see any activity anymore on the server, although the already connected players still look as if they are connected (no disconnects in debug.log).
It also seems to happen regardless of the mods which are installed, if I remember well it even happened without any mods.
Nothing related shows up in debug.log or anywhere else.

Does anyone experience the same and could help out?

It also seems that most of the servers at http://servers.minetest.net/ have an uptime of only a couple of hours ... do you admins really restart your servers that often?

It depends on the server. Some are shut down regulary for doing a backup (in particular VanessaEs servers). Some are not 24/7 (i.e. Krocks server). It is difficult to do a backup while the server is running. So...on some servers with a not so high uptime, your creations will be much safer than elsewhere :-)
