UPDATE FEB 4th 2015:
Consolidated and renamed both mods, the soldier is soldiermob and the pink and black guys are aggressormobs. Updated on github as well.

UPDATE JANUARY 21st 2015:
*Changed the skins, now you have a guy wearing a pink shirt that shoots the automatic, but at close range, and
*Added a guy wearing a black uniform that shoots a longer range, yet slower cannon, and sits down when shooting.
*Added the fireball explosion sound for the second shooter, for variety.
*Changed the viewing range, they are not so tough in V1.1
*Changed the speeds of the bullets, they are slower but still deadly.
*Changed the quantity spawned to a lower amount, keep those frame-rates down.
*Changed the time when they spawn, they come out at night, but still linger about in the mornings.

*ADDED to repository on Github. 20150124

This is my first mod so go easy on me, Okay! ;-)

Inroduction:
This mod adds VERY aggressive mobs to the game. The soldiers sometimes just stop shooting, consider it a blessing because when they open fire, you WILL die. A fresh restart gets them going again. I modified the original Dungeonmaster Lua code for both models and specifically changed the firing rate and swapped the fireball to a bullet. The speed in which they move has been greatly increased, good luck.

Applemons is a cute little monster that is very fast and will also kill you, spawns in dark tunnels so watch out! Your reward will be a bunch of apples, you will need them.

Aggressormob are crazy guys with guns that come out at night and SHOOTS TO KILL one with an automatic rifle, and another with a shotgun. If you are able to kill one of them you will get quite a bit of MESE.

How to install:
Unzip the archive an place it in minetest-base-directory/mods/
if you have a windows client or a linux run-in-place client. If you have
a linux system-wide instalation place it in ~/.minetest/mods/
If you want to install this mod only in one world create the folder
worldmods/ in your worlddirectory.

I like mobs but those are just too aggressive.
It would be better when the soldiers couldn't shoot on that distance.

Like the viewing distance? or projectile range?

I wanted to make something really really tricky, so it created a stressful situation where one would need to take cover right away.

Thanks, Dad for the kudos!

Quick update:
My niece and nephew just played without issue for about two hours, yes, it is very hard to survive, however, with an extensive tunnel system on one of our maps it was a piece of cake to survive. [NOTE: This tunneling system was already in place by earlier investment.]
Daytime was no hassle (unless they are right there shooting at you) and you have shelter or a cave present.

They liked the challenge, it kinda forced them to be very resourceful during the day and do much mining at night.

I too, played for a few hours with no issue, as I was immediately gathering wood and tunneling straight away. In fact, the swarm of tree monsters and dirnt monsters made it harder to get the trees!
-Must add I also changed the frequency of the Carbone mobs to gather in greater numbers too. I guess I am too used to the Just Test server, where the monsters swarm by the 40 count!

In short: Use if want extreme challenge and do not use if you have full inventory and no shelter, that of course, if you want an extreme challenge. ;-) I guess I can tune down the range a bit but I really don't want to make it too easy, that is to be able to do normal things with the expectation that one could outrun a mob or get away easy.

Add this mob if you have the balls to really work that extra mile and find security, it makes the game a whole lot harder in survival!

I am totally open to more suggestions on decreasing the attack rate and range, Krock mentioned this earlier and i shall give it a go. I am trying to find a happy medium between too hard and too easy, as we know the current mobs are just too easy.

UPDATE:

I changed the two distinct mobs and re-named them so you won't need to rename to the same name. That was dumb of me! Since these mobs are basically the same thing, I consolidated into the same post and let you choose which mod to install. No need to make two posts for these mobs.

It is true.They are aggressive!Only earlier i understood that mod is named as "Aggressor Mobs", probably
