HELP! People are burning everything on my server!

When I wake up, I log on and find everything wooden missing, and fire everywhere. I put in the lava restriction mod but apparently people are still finding ways to burn things. Is there any mod to prevent any burning whatsoever?

You could disable fire by using disable_fire = true in minetest.conf

Also disable_tnt = true

You mention people had the ability to hack and steal items. What is a "greifer"?

A griefer is a player who joins servers to:

1) Destroy buildings
2) Kill players
3) Crash server

Generally making it unplayable.

The thing is that with griefers they will be happy. They will feel like they've won.

Well, someday they'll be playing all alone and have nothing to do but destroy each other.

Fire can be disabled in mintest.conf just add disable_fire = true

You can get protection for the buildings, which is a mod.

Or you can enable rollback and see who did it and roll back everything they did. Or you could ban them for what they did.

It's not about banning people or this specific issue. If Minetest has inherent problems with hacking I simply do not have the time or interest to play wack-a-mole when there's better things to do than play computer games.

Minetest doesn't have problems with hacking, it's just sadistic players. you need to install a protection mod, only give interact on request, disable fire, and restrict lava placement. But it's your decision. If the server has been up for a while and players have built lots of stuff, consider providing the world directory (with auth.text removed)

It's not about banning people or this specific issue. If Minetest has inherent problems with hacking I simply do not have the time or interest to play wack-a-mole when there's better things to do than play computer games.

My question is, how would you go about hacking minetest? What is there to hack? Did I even say anything remotely close to hacking? The answer to that would be no. I am just trying to help so don't be shooting things down. I am just trying to give a suggestion on how something could be done. :)

if you want to know why my server is down at the moment it's because people were blowing everything up

Edit your minetest.conf file and add the line: disable_fire = true
