I suggest downgrade your minetest to 4.10, that comes with official stable release.

At this time if you build from source, for xanadu, use the stable-0.4 branch: https://github.com/minetest/minetest/tree/stable-0.4 . IIRC the MT folks are working on significant overhauling the networking code, and the master/test builds may not be compatible.
