v6 Mapgen Semi Flat

by DoyleChris » Tue Jan 26, 2016 01:09

I am trying to figure out how to make a world that has areas that are relatively flat. The size i'm thinking of is over maybe 200x200 and a elevation change above water level of 3 blocks. I try walking (sometimes flying) trying to find the best flat ground by water to start building and with mapgen v6 all i get by the water is a drastic climb of about 10 to 15 blocks. Anyway to add into a mod or mapgen to setup a flat area by water with a gentle rise of 3 blocks.

Reduce the scale of some terrain noises.
A quick example:
Open the minetest.conf file and add these lines:
Your phone or window isn't wide enough to display the code box. If it's a phone, try rotating it to landscape mode.
Code: Select all
mgv6_np_terrain_base = -1, 5, (250, 250, 250), 82341, 5, 0.6, 2.0
mgv6_np_terrain_higher = 5, 4, (500, 500, 500), 85039, 5, 0.6, 2.0

This will divide the terrain height by 4, but there is still sharp cliffs (even if they have less that 10 blocks height). You may also want to avoid these cliffs, so add this too:
Your phone or window isn't wide enough to display the code box. If it's a phone, try rotating it to landscape mode.
Code: Select all
mgv6_np_steepness = 0.85, 0.1, (125, 125, 125), -932, 5, 0.7, 2.0
mgv6_np_height_select = 0.5, 2, (250, 250, 250), 4213, 5, 0.69, 2.0
Very busy this year too, so do not expect me to be very active on the forum or in game. But I'm not about to drop Minetest forever :)
