Hi,
The mapgen settings are not user-friendly. Could we add more understandable settings like "ocean depth", "steepness", "mountain shape (smooth -> sharp)" etc. that when tweaked, change some noise parameters ? Many people ask for bigger mountains, deeper oceans, smaller / larger rivers, smoother slopes… All of this can be done with mapgen parameters, but that's very difficult to find the good digit to change. But this system shouldn't substitute the old ("advanced") settings.
I'll probably test this idea on Lua Valleys Mapgen to show what I would like.

Simplified mapgen parameter
Very busy this year too, so do not expect me to be very active on the forum or in game. But I'm not about to drop Minetest forever :)

you should register an API but that a great idea!

This will be complex to do.
Somewhere on the forum i have explained noise parameters. I guess i *should* also write a text explaining what effect each noise has in each mapgen. Then these together would be enough for many users.
if people want to publish sets of noise parameters for certain types of world character that would be good too.
