Thank you for the video. I've subscribed n_n. This info should help other people with this issue.
But in my case, when I try to run the server, the server loading bar freezes. I'm checking if it's a problem with the firewall, maybe. ...It's the ipv6...

What's the error?
And IP?
MykieDoesStuff wrote:Neither.
You would want to use external IP address. You could find it here: http://myexternalip.com/
If you want the fastest reply, you can send me a PM btw.

server_announce = true
server_name = MykieDoesStuff Test Server
server_description = Test Server
remote_port = 30000
address = (your external IP address)
port = 30000
max_users = (whatever amount of users you want)
\minetest.exe --server --worldname
MykieDoesStuff wrote:If it doesn't appear on the server list then you may have done something wrong still.
Okay in firewall:
Inbound connection, add UDP port: 30000-30000
Outbound connection, add UDP port: 30000-30000
And PortMapper: UDP 30000
The reason we use UDP, because it's just better in a way. Not much to explain.
Then in Minetest config file:
Edit that and put something like this.. for example:Your phone or window isn't wide enough to display the code box. If it's a phone, try rotating it to landscape mode.
- Code: Select all
server_announce = true
server_name = MykieDoesStuff Test Server
server_description = Test Server
remote_port = 30000
address = (your external IP address)
port = 30000
max_users = (whatever amount of users you want)
Some of these lines above may not be necessary, but I added them just to be sure.
Then you can run the server easily off like this:
BUT... if you do not want to be in the server... try this:
After making a shortcut.Your phone or window isn't wide enough to display the code box. If it's a phone, try rotating it to landscape mode.
- Code: Select all
\minetest.exe --server --worldname
After the "-worldname" hit space then type in your map name, and then hit Apply and OK.
Your server is now running itself, without you!
I recommend joining the server by using your internal IP, so bandwidth isn't wasted too. The IPv4 Address is your internal IP. Nobody can join that except if they're in your house connected to your router. Just type in IP in the server list in the game (engine) and your port (30000) and you'll join the server.
One thing to keep in mind... make sure your ISP allows you to run a server... if you're using Comcast... you don't want to run a server, otherwise they'll cut off your internet service. I'm using RCN... and in their ToS... they didn't mention anything about server so I'm okay I guess.

That.... I do not know... But if you're able to connect to your server via your external IP, then that means everything is working.

I CAN CONNECT WITH MYSELF WITH ANOTHER USER, ADDING IP AND ADDRESS PORT ON SERVER LIST. TRY TO VISIT MY SERVER. IP 192.168.180.1 ADDRESS PORT 30000

I guess... I mean it depends how you properly set up the whole server in the first place. If you're able to join the server via your external IP, then you set it up correctly.
:'(. But there's no point if I be the only one who can get acces... :______(. Anyway... I've made everything I could. Thank you anyway.MykieDoesStuff wrote:Connection timed out for me. Maybe you're not running it right now. But anyways.. if you're able to join your own server using that IP and port... then your server works.
