In my continuing effort to welcome and encourage new builders to JT2, I want to ensure that spawntown is well maintained, easy to navigate, and an inviting community atmosphere. Property owners within spawntown should therefore make an effort to build something of substantial value, not merely to claim large swaths of land only to place a couple chests, a few trees, or nothing at all and then never to login again.
Therefore, properties within spawntown that are mostly vacant and derelict or otherwise prove to be a blight to the neighborhood or to significantly diminish the value of surrounding properties will be cited by the City in accordance with the Anti-Squatters Act. The map above depicts the boundaries of spawntown, in which this ordinance is currently in effect. It is bordered by the canal on the north, east, and south and by Holiday Drive on the west. A few players are exempt from these conditions (in particular rnd and 843jdc), since they are founding members and have actively contributed to the development of JT2.
Players will always be notified by citation, with at least one month to remedy any outstanding conditions. Those properties outlined in yellow are to be condemned on Monday, January 30. Those properties outlined in cyan are not in violation, as the owners are still active on the server. But they eventually risk being condemned if they remain empty and abandoned.
Since JT2 is an anarchy survival server, I always try to take a "hands off" approach whenever it comes to anything beyond basic server administration. But my hope is that measures like these will help to enhance the appearance of our great city, while giving players more opportunities to build outstanding things. Thanks for your understanding!
